Musical and Dance Auditions in Detroit

This audition is similar to the basic auditions seen in Detroit however you will be asked to sing and learn a dance combination. In Detroit, the dances that they make requests of may be a bit more complex in nature. For these auditions, dress appropriately, like you would for a regular audition but make sure you can dance in it. Though you could select dancewear in a similar color to your audition outfit, so that you will have something that will help casting remember you; a signature look can be helpful.
In Detroit as you are choosing and preparing your song, you may in fact be asked to do two contrasting pieces, that have sixteen bars each. They don’t normally require the whole song in Detroit. In fact, it is really super rare considering the time constraints already put on auditions. Sing your best song first, in case they don’t have time to hear the other. Make sure that your cut has a strong beginning and definitive end.
If you can really get your groove on and excel at dancing; you are definitely going to have a good competitive edge. If you can act and move well when presented with a difficult combination, be sure to look up and smile, no matter what your body is doing. At no point look down , even if you are watching the choreographer, dance captain or another dancer while performing your audition. This is a rookie move and will not impress your casting director in Detroit.
